Where We Work
Brown County is home ground and Green Bay is the county seat. From here we run west into Outagamie County, east into Kewaunee County, and south into Calumet County. The Fox River splits the metro and the land climbs away from the water on both banks, so wall work starts near the river and keeps going up.
The east side is different ground from the west. The Niagara Escarpment, the ridge everyone calls the Ledge, runs down that side and carries dolomite close to the surface. Bellevue sits up on the higher ground east of the valley, and its old name meant beautiful view. Ledgeview stands highest of all the towns around us and took its name from that ridge, with dolomite cliffs and a waterfall on display at Fonferek's Glen.
The ring towns are not one landscape. De Pere grew at the first rapids on the Fox, and its dam and its older districts sit on real river grade. Allouez is squeezed between the Fox on one side and the East River on the other, packed with older houses. Ashwaubenon runs flat and suburban around the airport and Titletown. Howard mixes gently sloping open ground, wooded lowland, wetland, and hills, and it once held four stone quarries on Duck Creek. Suamico is more than a third water, with the Suamico River crossing it into the bay, so the water table is never far down. Hobart has grown fast on ground that was open land a generation ago, and it sits entirely within Oneida Nation treaty boundaries, which can affect permitting on some parcels.
